Covid Stats for 06/29/20
Good morning. Little uptick yesterday, and I expect it to be worse tomorrow because of the reporting. From yesterday’s reporting, only 24 of 58 California Counties reported new cases. I’m not a betting man, but I have to assume there was a problem with the reporting with the other 34 and it wasn’t because they didn’t record any new cases. Some of the counties reporting zero cases (and their current case count) yesterday are Riverside (15,643), Imperial (6,041), Fresno (4,474) and San Mateo (3,083), Maybe because it was Sunday? Hmmm…I expect an uptick tomorrow as the reporting catches up.
The average new case growth for the US was down to 1.5% yesterday from 1.7% the previous day.
I think the best news is the drop in people in the hospital and ICU. These are going to be the most important metrics to watch in the future as new cases will continue to rise; the goal of closing the economy was to limit the impact on the healthcare system and we did that. Now it’s all about opening the valve slowly and watching Hospital and ICU metrics to ensure the system can handle the surge.
